According to the “Credit Card Security Guidelines” compiled by the Japan Credit Association, PIN bypass transactions (PIN bypass transactions), in which the PIN entry is skipped and the customer’s identity is authenticated by signature, will be prohibited in principle by the end of March 2025.

When handling contact-type IC credit cards, customers will be required to enter their PIN by the end of April 2025.
