Behind the front counter is an art tapestry inspired by Morioka’s traditional event “Chagu Chagu Umakko.”
Nanbu Kodai Katazome is a traditional dyeing craft handed down in Morioka, Iwate. Using paper stencils, the technique produces beautiful and delicate patterns. Its designs, inspired by nature and the four seasons, embody the culture and aesthetic sensibility unique to Iwate.
Nambu ironware is a traditional iron craft produced in Morioka and Oshu City in Iwate Prefecture. With a history of around 400 years, it was designated as Japan’s first “Traditional Craft Product” in 1975.
“Nanbu Kokeshi” is a traditional craft of Iwate Prefecture. Each doll is carefully handcrafted by artisans, characterized by its simple and warm expression.
